Are you learning English as a second language (ESL)? Are you looking for a fun way to learn English as a second language? I have developed a way to learn different languages based on my experience as an ESL teacher. This pack has 57 different settings for students to talk about in English as a second language. The worksheets themselves are in English and the students do need to translate the places and objects they see into English as a second language. At the end of the session, the students can play a fun game of word bingo to show they have mastered that day’s vocabulary. Try it, it is a lot of fun for everyone!
I like to ask the class a question, give the class a certain amount of time to solve the question and then show me the answer on their mini whiteboards. I have taken the KS2 SATs numeracy question papers for the 2015 test and combined the question and answer booklets into a single presentation. This is a great way of teaching as there is an instant feedback and explanation as to how to solve each problem. This helps to challenge and consolidate the classes learning.
This teaching resource could be used for whole class teaching and checking, or at home as a one to one resource with a tutor. These teaching resources make maths less stressful and so the students are more motivated to succeed!
I have created resources for levels 3-5 and also separate resources for Level 6 students. All the students should attempt all the papers to both consolidate and strengthen their basic learning and also extend their skills to a higher level.
I have tried to make learning fun. My powerpoints combine the original question papers with the original marking scheme. This means that after each question, immediately comes the answers. My idea is that a teacher shows the question, lets the class answer it using mini whiteboards. Then the students can explain their different strategies and see what would have gained marks and how to improve their work.
This pack contains both Level 3 to Level 5 material and also Level 6 tests. Every child should try every test. This helps to extend and challenge the main group, while consolidating the learning of the more advanced children. Even more effective teaching learning is to pair the advanced and less advanced - the effort of teaching the less able child actually improves the understanding and verbal explanation of maths.
This teaching pack could be used in the classroom for whole class teaching, small group teaching or at home with a tutor.
I collected together lots of different high quality ESL teaching resources and I thought it would be fabulous to share them all in one place! I am sure your students will really enjoy these resources, while you also happen to enjoy the huge discounts!
• This pack contains 17 templates for creating your own worksheets, for use in lessons, for testing, or for homework. You can use them with any level – your choice of vocabulary and tenses will determine the level.
• This pack also includes a sample set of finished worksheets (with answers) on the topic of “Dentist”. The level is pre-intermediate to intermediate.
• You don’t need to create all the worksheets for a given topic; simply choose the ones you need. The worksheets are in four categories: vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and speaking & listening. Of course, you can also adapt the worksheets and include your own activities and categories.
• Remember, as the teacher, you should know the answers to the worksheets! By thinking about the answers and researching what you do not know, your teaching skills will improve.
• The worksheets practise concepts and skills that are fundamental to the You Are The Course Book method of teaching, for example: discussion words, spelling statements, tense conversion, idioms, word stress, sentence stress, collocations, connected speech, discussion, and so on.
• In keeping with the YATCB method, why not encourage your students to make their own activities based on these worksheets – then swap them with one another, or give them to other classes.
• You can write on the blank worksheets then photocopy them for your students, or create your own templates modelled on these worksheets
The Importance of Thanksgiving Posters in the Classroom
As Thanksgiving approaches, I’ve been inspired to create and share 10 beautiful posters that celebrate the spirit of gratitude. While browsing through resources on TES, I noticed a lack of engaging materials that truly capture the essence of being thankful. This motivated me to design these posters, which can be a wonderful addition to your classroom decor.
Why Use Thanksgiving Posters in the Classroom?
Promoting a Culture of Gratitude: Thanksgiving posters serve as a powerful reminder to students about the importance of expressing gratitude. They encourage a culture of appreciation, helping students understand the value of being thankful for what they have.
Visual Engagement: Colorful and thoughtfully designed posters can capture students’ attention and create a warm, festive atmosphere in the classroom. Visual aids enhance learning by providing context and stimulating discussion around the themes of Thanksgiving and gratitude.
Inspiring Reflection: These posters can prompt meaningful conversations and reflections among students. They encourage learners to think about what they are thankful for and share their thoughts with their peers, fostering a sense of community.
Versatile Teaching Tool: Beyond Thanksgiving, these posters are suitable for any lessons focused on gratitude, kindness, and respect. They can also be effectively used during harvest festivals or any time you want to teach about appreciation and community.
Encouraging Positive Behavior: Displaying messages of gratitude can promote positive behavior within the classroom. When students see reminders of thankfulness, it can influence their interactions and encourage them to express appreciation towards their classmates and teachers.
I kindly ask that if you enjoy these Thanksgiving posters, please click the little blue heart further down the page and follow me. This allows me to keep you updated on future sets of free topical posters. If you find value in these resources, leaving a lovely comment would mean the world to me—your feedback makes what I do worthwhile!
Let’s celebrate gratitude together in our classrooms this Thanksgiving!
